Mayo candidate says flytippers should be charged with treason

A CANDIDATE in the Mayo local elections has been angered by the level of illegal dumping he came across while canvassing at Clydagh, near Castlebar.

Ger Deere, a Fine Gael representative and active member of Castlebar Tidy Towns, said he is at odds to understand how people will destroy their own environment in such a reckless manner.

"If and when we track down those responsible, we should charge them with treason, such is the lack of loyalty they are showing to their country," he stated.

Mr. Deere said he is confident that investigations into the Clydagh case will reveal who was responsible.
