West Mayo community angry over indiscriminate dumping

COMMUNITY concern has been raised over rubbish being indiscriminately dumped along roads in a west Mayo parish.

Aughagower Community Alert has posted photographs on its Facebook page showing rubbish dumped along the bog road in Ayle and an oven and other bits and pieces at Cluain na Cun .

The alert stated: “The rubbish dumped in Ayle is no more than 10 metres from a 'no dumping sign' and is the third time the EPA has been asked to clear rubbish from this road in as many weeks.

“We in Aughagower Community Alert will now have to seek legal advice on what is the best way to tackle this issue.

“The people who are committing these offences do not care about the environment and their action are a kick in the teeth to those who are working tirelessly to enhance the parish.”

Councillor Brendan Mulroy described the dumping as shocking.

“What is wrong with people who do this?” he asked..
