Cosy Joe's wins Best Late Night Bar in Connaught award

COSY Joe’s in Westport has been voted Best Late Night Bar in the Connaught region for 2019 by the Irish Pub Awards and sponsors Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard.

They will now go forward to contest the national award which will be decided upon later this month.

Previous accolades for Cosy Joe’s have included Best Bar in Ireland, Best Entertainment Venue and Mayo Pub of the Year.

Owned and managed for over 25 years by local couple Joe and Marian O’Malley, it is one of Westport’s best known and most popular bars.

Cosy Joe’s was the first pub in Westport to obtain a late licence and it holds late bars on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night every week, year-round, with extra late nights on bank holidays and at Christmas. It is also Westport’s only multi-level bar which means there are spaces for dancing, seating, parties and groups, or for a quieter drink.

Cosy Joe’s has become particularly renowned for its free entertainment.

The Christmas period also sees the opening of Cosy Joe’s German Beer Tent to the rear of the premises. Transformed into an authentic Christmas German Beer Tent with everything from life-sized Christmas figures to sheepskin rugs and blankets to wrap around the legs, it proved very popular for Christmas 2018.

Proprietors Joe and Marian O’Malley were delighted with their award win, especially so for Ray (McGreal) and staff who make a huge effort to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for customers.
