Mayo independent candidate explains her election motivation

A FORMER Mayo County Council employee has explained her decision to put her name forward for election for the first time.

Grainne De Barra told a public meeting in the town said she is standing up for all the people who are struggling in their daily lives since the collapse of the economy.

She explained: “I have lived this life and I want a brighter future for our children. We need to shake up the outgoing government. We pay them, but they are not caring to us.

“It's time we took the power back from them. We are enslaved to a system of bondholders, corruption and other negative influences. It has got to stop. I want to help bring about that change.

“We hold the future in our hands and we can't afford to lie down any longer. We want a government that stands up for its people and not leave them homeless and without carers or a proper health system.”
