Funeral of Mayo man who died tragically in the US

THE funeral arrangements have been announced for Michael Jennings, Bollingbrook Drive, Swinford, and formerly of Claremorris, who has died tragically in the United States.

The 52-year-old former chairman of the Mayo Women's Soccer League lost his life when the apartment he shared with his wife, Catherine, caught fire in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, last Thursday.

Catherine was seriously injured in the fire and has been receiving treatment in hospital.

Michael will be sadly missed by Catherine, daughters Siobhain and Danielle, his mother Mary, sister Angela, aunts, uncles and large family circle and friends, to whom heartfelt sympathy is tendered.

There was a very generous response to a social media appeal for funds to repatriate Michael's remains to his native Mayo.

He will be reposing in Campbell's Funeral Home, Swinford, on Monday next (February 17) from 4.30 p.m. until removal at 7.30 p.m. to the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, Swinford ,arriving at 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place on Tuesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards Kilconduff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
