Mayo soccer stars lift morale with video that goes viral

A video produced by the players of Castlebar Celtic FC to fill a void created by the Covid-19 playing ban has gone viral.

The footage, featuring all the members of the senior squad skillfully keeping up a toilet roll before passing it on, was a major hit across social media at the weekend.

Club public relations officer Marian Robinson contacted striker Jordan Loftus and captain Ioseph O'Reilly about the idea and it immediately took off.

All the players were asked to send individual videos of themselves taking the challenge and the video, with catchy background music, was put together by Marian's daughter, Amy.

Three players who are currently abroad – Ger O'Boyle (Canada), Cathal Coyne (USA) and Jose Navarro (Spain) – also participated.

Said Marian: “The reaction has been amazing and has lifted morale at a time when there is no football to watch or play. We are delighted so many people enjoyed it.”
