Thirty-eight new homes approved for Mayo county town
CASTLEBAR has received a housing boost with planning permission being granted for a new 38-unit development at Knockaphunta.
The developers are MGB Land Holdings Limited, with 25 conditions attached to the approval by Mayo County Council.
A design statement submitted to planners sets out how the design responds in a positive way to the established pattern and form to the wider scale of developments in the surrounding area. The development embraces good modern architecture and urban design that is innovative and varied and respects and enhances local distinctiveness.
All homes will meet current sustainability standards achieving an A2 BER rating and meeting current NZEB requirements.
There's a mix of 16 two-bedroom units, 17 three-bedroom, and five four-bedroom homes.
Sixty-four parking spaces are included in the project plans.
Some local concern was expressed to planners, with issues including density and insufficient parking and open spaces, as well as impact on traffic management.
This latest decision follows the announcement of approval for 61 new homes at Garryduff last week.
