Mayo island's new website launches today

IN a busy week for the community of Inishturk, the island's new website will be launched today.

The brand new InishturkIsland.com gives Inishturk a fresh and welcoming online home that reflects who the people are, how they live, and where they're going together.

Created with support from the Fáilte Ireland Digital That Delivers Programme and developed in collaboration with Little Blue Studio, the website is designed to support sustainable tourism, strengthen community connection, and share Inishturk’s unique heritage and way of life.

An update issued on the island Facebook page explained: 'Life on Inishturk is shaped by cooperation, shared responsibility, and community-led initiatives, and the new website reflects this by providing a space to share local news, island projects, volunteering opportunities, and community initiatives - helping to keep islanders, friends, and the wider diaspora connected.

'A special feature of the site is a beautiful homepage video by Irish travel filmmaker Joshua Nueva, whose work captures Ireland’s wild landscapes and island life, bringing the atmosphere and character of Inishturk to life for those discovering the island for the first time.

'Photography across the website has been generously contributed by many people, including local photographer Michael McLoughlin, alongside residents and friends of Inishturk, celebrating everyday island life, our landscape, and strong sense of community.

'Looking to the future, the website will also share Our Island Future - a community-led vision for a resilient and sustainable Inishturk, rooted in environmental responsibility, biodiversity protection, low-impact tourism, and creating opportunities for people, especially younger generations, to continue living on the island.'

Later in the week, the island's biodiversity action plan will be launched.
