Freeman snatches draw for Mayo hurlers in Tooreen thriller

SPIRITED Mayo salvaged a draw against Meath in the opening round of Division 2A of the National Hurling League at Tooreen this afternoon.

The home side came from being six points down at one stage to secure a merited point thanks to a last score by the outstanding Cathal Freeman.

The most influential Mayo player was Shane Boland who executed 0-11 of his side's tally.

Other central figures in the performance by Derek Walsh's charges were Stephen Coyne and Sean Kenny.

Mayo travel to London for their second round fixture next weekend.
