Lee Keegan fitness fears allayed ahead of replay

FEARS that Footballer of the Year Lee Keegan could be ruled out of Mayo's All-Ireland SFC replay against Roscommon at Croke Park on Monday have been allayed tonight.

It has been confirmed to The Connaught Telegraph by a Mayo County Board official that the talented Westport ace, who was inspirational for Mayo in the first half of last Sunday's drawn encounter, received precautionary treatment to a blister on the sole of one of his feet at Mayo University Hospital within the last 24 hours.

Keegan did not participate in squad training at McHale Park, Castlebar, on Wednesday evening but he was in attendance.

However, initial concerns that he could miss the replay have been dismissed by the county board spokesman, who revealed that Keegan will be fit to face Roscommon.

The news will come as a huge relief to Mayo GAA fans who regard him as a central figure in the county's bid to reach the All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Kerry later this month.   Â
