Mayo senior GAA squad hold training camp in Carton House

THE Mayo senior football squad have held their pre-championship training camp in Carton House in Kildare.

The renowned venue, which mixes cosmopolitan chic with contemporary cool, Carton House Hotel is one of the best located luxury four-star hotels Ireland has to offer, and was the ideal training location for Mayo's major get together before they set out on another championship campaign.

Indeed, this magnificent weekend away for the county senior team shows the county board leave no stone unturned to give Stephen Rochford and management team the best possible help in getting their team ready for the championship.

Located on a 1,100-acre private parkland estate with an all-encompassing playground for preparing teams and which includes a leisure centre with pool, spa, training pitches and a purpose built events centre, and state of the art conference facilities, the Mayo panel had a great three-day break away where they were able to enjoy the great training facilities along with a bonding exercise and planning for their first game which will be against either Sligo or New York in Elverys MacHale Park next Sunday two weeks.

By all acounts the weekend for the 31-strong Mayo panel, and the five development panel members, Matthew Ruane, James Carr, Seamus Cunniffe, Adam Gallagher and Brian Reape, proved very successful.

After the weekend away the players returned to their clubs for this week to prepare for the Mayo club championships which start this coming weekend.
