Warning issued over weekend winds and beach inflatables

A WARNING has been issued over the use of inflatables on west of Ireland beaches this weekend.

Achill Coast Guard said it is expecting gusty winds from the east and north east over the coming days.

A spokesperson said: “This could cause issues on the beaches on the western coast of the island.

“The concerns will be that the winds will be blowing offshore at Keel, Dooega, the new beach at Dooagh and Keem.

“Do not use anything inflatable from the beaches because if the wind catches it you will be taken out to sea.

“If you see anyone who is, or even might be in danger do not hesitate, call 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard.

“Remember there are no lifeguards on our beaches yet.”

The warning should be taking on board by people intending to visit west of Ireland beaches over the weekend due to the fine weather.
