Two Mayo stars named on Team of the Decade

TWO Mayo stars have been named on the Gaelic Football Team of the Decade, selected by RTÈ Sport.

Defenders Keith Higgins and Lee Keegan were honoured for their consistency at the top level since 2010.

Higgins, named at No. 4, was singled out for the fact he has delivered consistent excellence across the decade and never letting Mayo down on the big occasion.

Keegan, selected at No. 5, was described as an extraordinary wing back who was somehow simultaneously able to combine the task of keeping taps on the opposition's best attacker with getting forward to notch some scores himself.

Congratulations to the two players.

They are joined on the team by such greats as Stephen Cluxton, Jack McCaffrey, Karl Lacey, Diarmuid Connolly, Bernard Brogan and Michael Murphy.
