Remarkable second half of the year for this young man

The next Merit Award winner in the Mayo Young Sports Stars Awards had a remarkable second half of 2019.

After starring for Mayo at the Kennedy Cup in June, Conor Walsh's year went from great to fantastic.

Along with two former Westport United team-mates, Daniel Kelly and Adam Nugent, Conor had some great days with the Republic of Ireland Under 15 team throughout the remainder of the year.

Walsh, a goalkeeper, was especially prominent for the Irish team as they went on a winning run that saw them capture the UEFA Development Tournament, which was held in Mayo, and then go on to claim friendly victories over Poland (twice) and England.

Walsh continues to impress in the Irish No. 1 jersey and is a very worth Merit Award winner.
